Penhow NG

A man in his 50’s who has some Learning Disabilities and some traits of Autism requires a Personal Assistant to take him into the community.

He enjoys woodwork, walks, feeding birds and the Wetlands.

He also enjoys going to town to socialise and to play pool in certain pubs.  He needs help with socialisation and this activity is of great benefit to him.

This activity is where your employment would be required.

He would like to continue to go to town on a Wednesday evening for a 4-hour period from pick up to returning home.

If you think that you would enjoy helping him to live a full life and you have some experience assisting people with Learning Disabilities this could be the job for you.

Times required are 4 hours every Wednesday evening, though this may be negotiable.

Rate of Pay £9.79 per hour

Experience preferred, but not essential.  

Driver essential – expenses provided.

Personal Assistant/Support Worker – Central Newport

The mother of a young woman in her twenties who has Learning Disabilities and can show some Challenging Behaviours is advertising for a Personal Assistant.  You will be required to support her to maintain her independence.

This young woman is reliant on support for all activities of daily living and needs help to access activities both at home and in the community.  She is a sociable person who enjoys company. She has communication difficulties but is able to partially express her needs without language.

You will work as part of a team providing support and care for the young woman ensuring her safety and physical wellbeing.  You will facilitate her independence by adopting the appropriate approach as advised by her mother.

Hours of Work: 19 hours per week

Pattern of Work:

Tuesday and Friday: 8 .00 AM to 10.00 AM. and 2.30 PM to 6.00 PM

Alternate Thursday and Saturday: 9.00AM to 5.00 PM

Rate of Pay: £11.00 per hour

Llandevaud KT

A Personal Assistant is required to support a man in his sixties as he has Parkinson’s Disease.

His condition is complex and it can be hard to predict when he will need assistance.

When he has a flare up, he needs assistance with the following functions:

Support with Mobilising and Transfers

Personal Care – Dressing/undressing, bathing and assistance accessing the toilet.

Help with preparation of food and feeding.

He will need prompting for medication as he is on a strict 3 hourly routine.

Assistance moving into a new position on occasion to prevent pressure sores.

The successful applicant will receive bespoke moving and handling training relevant to the needs of the job.

It is preferred that applicants have some relevant experience of caring for or working with people in a care setting.

The employer will arrange and pay for a DBS enhanced check.

Hours available are 30 hours per week. 

There will be a two-week rota as follows:

Week 1. Monday, Saturday and Sunday plus two other days  - to be negotiated at interview

Week 2. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday plus two other days  - to be negotiated at interview.

Each day worked will be from 9.00 AM and 3.00 PM

Hours are paid at a rate of £9.79 per hour.

You will be entitled to 5.6 weeks paid annual leave.

Pill/Central Newport - MP

He enjoys the cinema, walking a dog, loves meeting people and plays computer games.

He has Down’s syndrome, but has no mobility issues and has good communication skills. 

You may need you to check that he understands things properly sometimes.

Times required are 3 hours every Sunday 10.00 AM to 1.00 PM, though this may be negotiable.

Maindee NH

A female Personal Assistant is required to support a teenage girl to access the community as holiday relief for her main Personal Assistant.  This would require working six weeks per year plus any additional sickness cover.

This young girl has a Learning Disability and Autism, so some experience would be preferred.

Profile of the girl you would work with:

Likes: Learning about space, watching films, cooking, colouring, drawing, arts and craft, shopping, animals, walking the dog, Marvel, Nightmare before Christmas, My Little Pony.

Dislikes: Very loud noises, people arguing or having a loud disagreement or discussion, texture of fresh fruit, being called names or pet names. 

Hobbies: Horse riding, swimming, jujitsu, skills club. 

Further information regarding allergies and important background information will be discussed with successful applicant. 

Hours of work would be straight from school on a Wednesday for 2-3 hours.

Some Saturdays for 2-3 hours and extra hours in school holidays may be available.

Rate of Pay is £9.50 per hour.

Caerleon - Female Personal Assistant

A Female Personal Assistant is required to support a disabled woman in her fifties who is a wheelchair user to maintain her independence.

Duties will be carried out at her home and will include help with washing, bathing and dressing, as well as preparing meals and doing some light domestic tasks.Some assistance to go into the community may also be required.

Working hours are 2 hours every Saturday 9.00 AM to 11.00 AM and possibly a further 4 hours throughout the week to be negotiated. Experience and driving license is preferred, but not essential. Successful candidates will be DBS checked.

Lliswerry KB

A Female Personal Assistant is required to support a woman in her forties to have respite in her own home whilst her main carer takes regular respite breaks.

You would support the client with all aspects of personal care, including continence care, meal preparation, food and drinks.

There are two periods of hoisting required, but these will be at the start or end of shifts and will be with an experienced Personal Assistant who knows the client well.

You may be called upon to help her access activities that she enjoys in the community.

The client lives in ground floor accommodation which is wheelchair accessible and needs support available 24 hours per day.

A female family member will be in the house for the duration of your working day.

This employment will be for 22 weeks per year, which will work out approximately fortnightly with some gaps for holidays.

Hours of work are:
Day One 6pm to 10 pm
Day Two 7am to 12 noon

The rate of pay is £8.72 per hour.

Some flexibility in availability would be preferred.

Personal assistant, Rogerstone

A personal assistant is required to support a man in his thirties in the home with his personal care and to access the community.

He is a wheelchair user with severe learning difficulties and can exhibit complex behaviours. He has a diagnosis of autism and also has epilepsy.

There are 19 hours weekly hours:

Saturday 10am to 5.30pm, Sunday 10am to 5.30pm.

Respite hours are Sunday 10am to Tuesday 9am with a break on Mondays from 10am to 4pm when the client attends a day centre.

Weekly hours are for socialisation and to take the client out to cafes, walks and garden centres - he particularly enjoys looking at water. 

Duties during respite hours include bathing, washing, shaving and helping him to dress. 

You will need to prepare food and drinks and prompt him to take his medication, which is by peg feed. 

Light housework is required where you would tidy up after him during your working hours.

All hours paid at £9.50 per hour and it is preferred that you hold a full driving licence.

Personal assistant, Spytty/Glan Llyn area 

10 hours per month

A personal assistant is required for a happy, energetic 14-year-old boy with ADHD.

You are required to work five hours a day on two Saturdays each month - the hours will be arranged following a successful interview.  

Applicants must have experience or understanding of working with children with ADHD/Anxiety and be able to deal with behaviours associated with children with limited communication.

This is a very active young boy, who needs 1:1 attention at all times and care must be taken when outdoors to ensure that he stays safe.

Other duties may involve staying in the home environment to support him with suitable fun or play activities that he would enjoy.  

The employer will arrange and pay for a DBS enhanced check and the successful employees must have their own car and the required insurance cover.

You must have experience or understanding of working with children with ADHD/Anxiety and be able to deal with behaviours associated with children with limited communication.

This is a very active young boy, who needs 1:1 attention at all times and care must be taken when outdoors to ensure that he stays safe.

Other duties may also involve staying in the home environment to support him with suitable fun or play activities that he would enjoy.

Personal assistant, Maindee

A personal assistant is required to support a nine-year-old boy to access the community. The role will include taking him to various leisure facilities and assisting with play. He loves being outdoors, is very active and enjoys going to the park, trampolining, swimming, etc.

This youngster is non-verbal, has a diagnosis of ASD and uses PECS to communicate. Therefore, any prospective employee must have experience/understanding of working with children with disabilities and possess the ability to deal with behaviours associated with limited communication.

Working days and hours are Sundays for four hours, preferably between 11am and 3pm, and school holidays for four hours weekly (2 x 4 weekday hours) at a rate of £9.50 per hour - days and times to be negotiated following a successful interview.

A personal assistant is required for 5 hours a week at a rate of £9.50 to support a 25-year-old male (days and hours to be agreed following a successful interview).
