Free School Meals Holiday Voucher Scheme

Welsh Government has confirmed that the free school meals holiday voucher scheme will continue until the end of the 2021/22 financial year.

The scheme was initially introduced in 2020 to support families during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Families who are entitled to free school meals (FSM) will be issued with vouchers to cover school holidays. These vouchers will be issued via parents’ email accounts - please ensure that your child's school has your correct email address.

If you do not have an email address, your voucher will be sent to your child’s school where you can arrange to collect it.

Vouchers are also provided to support FSM families who are isolating.

There is no application process, vouchers will be issued to each eligible child.

If parents have any queries, they should contact their school in the first instance or education.business@newport.gov.uk if schools are closed.

If you receive certain benefits your children may be entitled to free school meals - read Welsh Government guidance on entitlement to free school meals.

Pupils receiving free school meals are entitled to either a main meal or a selection from the snack bar service.
